What can be done to prevent and intervene in the growth of “far-right extremism” and white supremacy? That was one of the questions put to House Speaker Paul Ryan Monday night at a town hall in Racine, Wisconsin, hosted by CNN.

Ryan’s response – keep guns away from criminals:

I’d say two things. Number one, you’ve got to — we’ve got to do a better job of making sure that criminals don’t get guns or that people who are suspected of terrorism, like domestic terrorism, don’t get guns.I’d say two things. Number one, you’ve got to — we’ve got to do a better job of making sure that criminals don’t get guns or that people who are suspected of terrorism, like domestic terrorism, don’t get guns.

Just like we saw yesterday (sic), Heather Heyer was killed by an act of domestic terrorism. (Applause) So this…this fits into that category. So I think we have to do a better job of making sure that terrorists do not get guns.
